This month I have the honor of being in three very different publications: Tin House Magazine, the first issue of Sarah McCary’s Guillotine, and (drumroll…) GQ Magazine. I’m not sure how I got to be in an unapologetic, feminist chapbook series and a famous men’s magazine in the same month. It is just one of many great mysteries by which I am fortunate enough to be confused.
I am also lucky to be traveling and reading in these places:
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania / October 10th, 4:30 pm, 260 Baker Hall, Carnegie Mellon.
Brooklyn, New York October 11th 7 pm @ Melville House Bookstore 145 Plymouth Street Brooklyn, NY 11201–I will be reading nonfiction for the release of Guillotine w/ Karolina Waclawiak and Sarah McCary !!
Manhattan, NYC / October 16th, 7:30pm@ Dixon Place—Experiments and Disorders / 161A Chrystie St. (between Rivington & Delancey) NY, NY 10002 …I will be reading something fictitious…
Seattle, Washington October 18th, I will be reading with the Tin House Magazine folks for the first ever SEATTLE LITCRAWL! (Muppet applause)
New York, NY October 23, at 6:30 p.m. the PEN Awards ceremony @Proshansky Auditorium / The CUNY Graduate Center 365 Fifth Avenue (between 34th and 35th streets) NY, NY 10016

Vanessa! I am so proud to see your successes – this is incredible. You deserve all of the publications and fame you get, you have worked so hard!
Thank you, lady. Hope you are well and thriving too.
Hi- this is a bit unrelated to your Oct appearances, but I read an article that I think you wrote (A Ride With A Serial Killer). I was incredibly pulled into that story, far beyond anything I’ve read in awhile. The fact that there is no trace of some of these murders and the people involved is a failing of our system. You never mention trying to contact the families of these victims – although being runaways, that may have been equally difficult. Thank you for a very thought provoking story and I’m very glad that you were one of the ones who made it out!
